Bug Description
Release: LTS Beta 2
Hardware: Dell Latitude D800
I download & burned the Ubuntu 6.06 LTS Dapper Drake Beta 2 live cd. Boots up fine. Choose install. At this point the installer already shows some bugs, crashing after the location/time page, then after the username page. Finally it gets to the partition page. I choose manual. It correctly sees my Win2k and FC4 partitions. I leave all partitions in tact. Next page it correctly suggest that / should go into my /dev/hda5 and swap into /dev/hda6. I hit install.
It starts loading the partition program half way during the reformat of /dev/hda5 dies. No messages. Nothing but a return tot the GNOME desktop.
In sequence:
Please wait
|||||||
Creating ext file system for / in partition in /dev/hda5.
Then the system hangs for about 20 sec.
It then says 'Starting Partioning', briefly and dissapears.
I happy to provide more info if some tells what debugging features can be switched on. Right now, I seem to be left with a destroyed FC4 partition and no Ubuntu....
Less than impressing.
Cheers

Beta 2 is quite old already and has known bugs. Please try the latest
daily live cd.
Run it from the terminal with:
UBIQUITY_DEBUG=1
sudo ubiquity
And if it fails, attach /var/log/ installer/ syslog installer/ partman
and /var/log/
Please use a throwaway password when being asked for it by the
installer, since it will be present in these logs.
