Kubuntu 9.10 beta: installer crashes before finishing install

Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

IBM ThinkPad T42p. Booted live CD, ran installer. Manual partition selection, 9.9GB of ext4 / and 69G as /home. No swap partition, I use a swapfile.

That said, we should still handle IO errors in install_extras and remove_extras more elegantly.

Attached is a patch to better handle IO errors that occur outside of the main file copy routine by moving that function's exception handling up one level.

That's odd, as I verified the CD after burning using K3B.

Also, I just had success using the same CD (a CD-RW) with the release
candidate, burnt using the same machine and drive.
