Note: the original reporter indicated the bug was in package 'espresso'; however, that package was not published in Ubuntu.

espresso is not a package? I selected it from the "choose package" option when reporting the bug... anyway it refers to the graphical installer available from the live cd.

maybe i found the trick
I ran the text based installer, after formatting it does check partitions and it founds an error in an external partition (a fat partition), the text installer says "ignore the error or cancel?" while the espresso installer crashes

cheers

Does it provide traceback? If yes, please attach it here.
Otherwise attach /var/log/installer/syslog file.

This may be duplicate of bug 41865

it does provide nothing, i'm sorry i can't attach the logs, i'd to reinstall a functioning system because i needed the computer to work while espresso left it unusable :-\

Thanks for your report. This is the same as bug 39734, so I'll mark it as a duplicate.

(To answer another of your questions, espresso is now called ubiquity.)
