LiveCD install unusable in 640x480 mode

Bug Description

I started up the Dapper Beta LiveCD on a computer with a 3Dfx Voodoo3 video card. GNOME starts up in 640x480 mode, and that's the only resolution available in System->Preferences->Resolution.

Double-clicking the Install icon on the desktop brings up a window that is larger than 640x480, and the buttons can't be seen.
