cannot install on my hdd portable hitachi 500GB

Binary package hint: ubiquity

greeting
i'm trying install 9.04 on my hdd portable hitachi 500GB on :
1. mobo asus p5dl2-x
2. IBM xserver x3400 series
3. HP Pavillion g3630l home pc
all had raised an issues that they cannot completely install ubuntu
and in bios all recognized my HDD as 500GB
the error said
[errno 30] read only file system :/target/boot/vmlinuz 2.6.28-11-generic
i've tried to check with gparted and the hdd is fine
