Bug Description
Binary package hint: ubiquity
I'm trying my initial install of Ubuntu 9.04 i386 on my AMD Athlon X2 Dual Core Processor machine.
Install proceeds as normal, until it says "Installing Bootloader", after which it crashes, returns to the LiveCD, and gives me an ubiquity crash notification.
I would gladly provide any feedback or testing. /var/log/syslog appears to me to contain many errors, notably:
ubuntu python: InstallStepError: GrubInstaller failed with code 1
followed shortly by
Exception in GTK frontend (invoking crash handler)
I am attempting to install Ubuntu 9.04 to a logical partition alongside other linux and Windows XP partitions.
I would gladly do additional testing or checks, feel free to contact me.
In the meantime I intend to test
- Additional partition arrangements
- Installing without a bootloader
- Installing from the alternate install media
