Bug Description
Binary package hint: ubiquity-
I just installed the Kubuntu 9.04 RC. At the end of the installation process, Ubiquity contacted the repositories and started downloading some packages. First it said security upgrades. But then it downloaded language packs, even though I choose the English language at the start of the installation. After that it even pulled in many GNOME-related packages, for example the gnome-user-guide, libgnomevfs2 and gnomekeyring packages. It's not a good idea to install packages like this by default on a KDE-distribution like Kubuntu.

This should be a lot better in Kubuntu 9.10; we now only install language support packages for packages that are actually installed. (Though I have a vague memory that we hacked around this for the final release of Kubuntu 9.04, too.)
ubiquity (2.0.0) karmic; urgency=low
[...] support if available to select language support
* Use check-language-
packages (LP: #434173).
