Bug Description

Binary package hint: parted

While attempting to install Jaunty Alpha 2 (amd64, desktop) on a ThinkPad X61 Tablet with a 32GB Samsung SATA disk, parted is incapable of creating ext2 partitions. To reproduce:

1) Use manual partitioning
2) Create new partition table
3) Create new primary partition, ext2, 100MB, mounted on /boot
4) Click OK
5) Observe that parted has helpfully created a 100MB ext3 volume mounted on /

The expected result, of course, is an ext2 volume mounted at /boot.

Evidently this is gparted, not parted.

Given that the installer does not use gparted, this is somewhat unlikely.

What means did you use to observe that the created partition was ext3?

Oh, I just noticed that you ran into bug 310083; that could well have had this kind of side-effect too. Can you reproduce this with Jaunty Alpha 3?
