Bug Description
Binary package hint: ubiquity
This happens when trying to install Ubuntu 8.10 from CD. The CD was tested for errors. It may be the same bug as others of similar name. I hope the system here attaches the relevant data that it presented to me, then asked me to report.
II see that the system did not install a grub folder in /boot, so there is no grub.configuration files. I checked this my creating a mount point, and mounting the partition I am trying to install it on. I see that it did create a user folder with my name in the /home folder. There is open space between some partitions, and the highest numbered partition is sda15. I have verified that the partitions are in proper numerical order.
I have previously installed kubuntu 8.10 on this computer, and it did not have this problem.
Like others have mentioned, I get thrown back to the live CD window, with a user name of ubuntu when I ask whoami. The system might be able to boot if I crafted an entry for it in my operative grub menu.lst file.

Title: ubiquity crashed with InstallStepError in configure_

Attempting to re-install Ubuntu after many failed attempts to get video & sound working failed.
Got this error after telling the installer to use safe video and to use the whole disk (1.5 TB) (installer hangs with the monitor hibernating if I try normal video).
I had effectively told the installer to wipe the disk and start over.
