2008-11-29 12:04:43 Vipa^ description After installing Ubuntu 8.10 beta and making it dualboot with WindowsXP, Windows won't start anymore. Error message indicates that ntoskrnl.exe is missing. Needed to fixboot and foxmbr to get Windows XP working again. Also GRUB doesn't recognize Windows properly. It says "Windows Vista/Longhorn" even that I have XP After installing Ubuntu 8.10 beta and making it dualboot with WindowsXP, Windows won't start anymore. Error message indicates that ntoskrnl.exe is missing. Needed to fixboot and foxmbr to get Windows XP working again. Also GRUB doesn't recognize Windows properly. It says "Windows Vista/Longhorn" even that I have XP Edit: The problem has been narrowed to this: In BIOS, there is a setting saying "USB keyboard support: xxxx" and it can be either BIOS or OS. If I choose BIOS, Windows XP won't start, but GRUB and Ubuntu (8.10 final at the moment) works fine. But if I choose OS, Windows XP will start, BUT the keyboard doesn't work in GRUB. Keyboard is connected via USB, and it is mandatory since the keyboard's drivers won't support PS/2. The motherboard is Abit AB9 Pro

This problem started after installing GRUB. Before that Windows could start even if keyboard support was choosed as "BIOS". Keyboard is connected via USB, and it is mandatory since the keyboard's drivers won't support PS/2. The motherboard is Abit AB9 Pro
