Regular installer kept on giving an error no matter what I did. So I had the bright idea of manually doing this:
sudo apt-get install ubiquity ubiquity- frontend- gtk
ubiquity --desktop gtk_ui
That one worked, formatted everything as I should, and while copying got the crash.
