Bug Description

Installing MATE 23.10 Daily Build and selecting "Login automatically', autologin should have been set in the configuration files however I was presented with the signon screen and was required to login on first boot. Getting into Settings >> Users and Groups >> gene >> Password: Not asked at login

This is correctly indicated however the underlying configuration file is still not configured.

I attempted to change this field toggling off/on to see if the underlying code existed to set the config file. I rebooted and confirmed that I was still required to login with my oassword.

I was able to get autologin into this session by making manual modification of the file
/etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/91-arctica-greeter-mate.conf

[Seat:*]
user-session=mate
autologin-user=gene
