Bug Description
Hi,
I try to promote Ubuntu Mate in the Repair Cafe where I’m active since 2017.
I’m using Ubuntu mate 20.04 for 2 years now (before that i used Lubuntu 18.04) and of course i’m interrested in Ubuntu Mate 22.04.
I’m using it on a MacBookPro late 2011 for my day to day business( that can’t be upgraded with MacOsX >10.13.6)
But also on a eMac of 2008 (a 24 ‘’) for video conferences only (blocked on MacOsX 10.11)
And on my test machine based on a motherboard asus B150 M-A equiped with 3 HD
HD1 a ST500 with ubuntu mate 20.04.3
HD2 a WD200 for ubuntu 18.04 migrated to 22.04
HD3 a WD250 with Windows10 to help people that use it and doesn’t want to migrate to ubuntu.
When I install in test ubuntu-mate with the default option the proposal is to install it on sda (HD1) beside 20.04. As it’s not what I want I did following trials
A)disconnect disks HD1 and HD3
install on the single remaining disk
Everything ok
but at restart I don’t have an option ‘recovery’
When I reconnect HD1 and HD3 and try to start from HD1 I receive a bash prompt
B)installing with 3 disks connected
I have to opt for others (autre chose) and choosing sdb2 (on HD2) to install ubuntu as sdb1 is the EFI partition and I opt to install the bootloader on sdb (instead of the proposed sda).
Once installed when I start my system I encounter the following problem
If I choose to start from HD2 (sdb) : Ubuntu doesn’t start : I receive a grub prompt
If I choose to start from HD1 (sda) : everything is OK ! Access to ubuntu 20.04/22.04/Win10
