The Ubuntu 20.04 Desktop Live CD installer crashes when trying to install. Installing without updates succeeds, but results in a broken install (no ethernet, or dkms for some reason).
How the error occurred:
- Run Live CD (normal graphics mode)
- Run installer
- Select "Minimal install" and "install third-party software"
- Set up partition table (2GB EFI partition, rest of disk Ubuntu)
- Installer crashes at last stage
Expected behaviour: Installer doesn't crash
Actual behaviour: Installer crashes.
Note, I have installed ubuntu 20.04 on this system before, so I have no idea why the installer would crash here.
EDIT: Problem appears to be caused by nvidia-driver-440 package. Installing with 21.10 (which defaults to nvidia-driver-470) appeared to fix the problem.
