Under Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS 64-bit (5.4.0-7--generic, fully updated)
using ubiquity in an attempt to make a copy of a complete booted system
crash

Happened several more time while attempting restore backup image in different setup situations.
Has anyone succeeded doing this?
