Bug Description
Dell Inspiron 1501 amd64 4gb memory Ubuntu 20.04.1
I had tried Ub 20.04 before so just went straight to the install from the usb boot.
I lost my wired connection and the wifi does not work until b43 install is done. However, when I connected my mobile via USB, the wired connection appeared.
Completed the install and included the download external drivers etc.
When I rebooted, I got the "Oh no. Something has gone wrong" with the log in or out (can't remember which). Tabbed to it because the mouse wasn't working and entered and after a while it returned to the Oh no screen. Couldn't find a way to resolve this so did a hard reboot.
I think but I'm not certain that this caused a lock problem with the SSD because when I tried to use Windows, it reported a disk problem, started to do dskchk but reported it couldn't continue because it couldn't write boot sector.
Eventually fixed that problem.
Next time, I "Tried" Ubuntu before installing. I don't remember exactly what I did but I changed mouse behaviour and appearance of the desktop. Installed again and it worked fine (did not lose the wired ethernet connection).
I don't expect anything to be done about this but decided to report the bug in case it sheds light on any other problems. Sorry I didn't do a complete log of what I did but I was trying anything to make my system work !
