installer crashes when instakking 16.04.2 alongside 16.04.03

Bug Description

system crashes when rebooting after running software updates in 16.04.2 to 16.04.3 purple screen shows and will not proceed. I tried to re-install 16.04.2 alongside 16.04.3 and the the partitioning failed with exit code 141. Then the installer said it crashed and would not continue.
