Installing 17.10 onto ASUS x399-A with Ryzen 1950x

Bug Description

Can't install Ubuntu 17.10 onto new ASUS Prime X399-A based system with Ryzen 1950X Threadripper.

64GB memory

Samsung 950 Pro m.2 boot drive

Tried with both Nvidia 1080Ti (Gigabyte) video card, then older AMD Radeon. Same installation failure.

I have a similar configuration and was getting an installation error as well.

What worked for me was to go into the BIOS and reset the date to the current date and save.

My Network/Ethernet connection then worked and I was able to install 17.10.
