Bug Description

After configuring the Kubuntu 18.04 on the "System Configuration" page, there's a black screen and I can't do anything. I tried to reboot the OS, but the problem still occured (black screen forever after the boot splash).

Steps to reproduce:
1. Install Kubuntu 18.04 in OEM mode
2. Run "Prepare for shipping to end user" from the desktop
3. Reboot the machine
4. Configure Kubuntu (language, timezone, keyboard, user data)
5. Wait for the configuration process to finish
6. End up with a black screen, even after rebooting

How long did you wait? I've been seeing long wait times to reach desktop - ftr I tried oem install testcase in Xubuntu, and while it was slow to get to desktop - eventually it did

I was waiting for about 5-10 minutes or so. When I find some free time, I'll try to install Kubuntu again and wait a little bit longer

Ok, I've tried to do an OEM install again. I waited for about 30 minutes after configuring the OS. Unluckily, nothing appeared. Then, I restarted the machine and waited for over 15-20 minutes, but the only think I saw was a black screen.
Of course, it's possible that it's a problem on my side. I'd be really thankful if anyone could try to do an OEM install of Kubuntu 18.04 and report the result here!

By the way, I can switch to tty from this black screen and log in without any problems.
