installation failed during installation of ubuntu, i was formatting my computer to start again

Your installation medium is corrupt; you will need to recreate it and may want to verify it using the check disc option at the boot menu.

It never got installed the first time so I'm not sure you would consider it a re-install. You need to recreate your DVD or USB flash stick and try again.
