It looks like you tried to resize your Windows partition to install Ubuntu, and this failed because the partition is corrupt. Have Windows run scandisk to repair it and try again.

Hi Phillip,

Thanks for the info. I don't have windows running on this PC and haven't
had for quite a while. The target partition initially showed up as xfs,
thats what it was on the first attempt at install.

After the failure I used gparted and formatted the partition as ext4..
got same error on second install attempt.

Grabbed an old DVD with Kubuntu 15.10 and the install worked fine to the
same partition although the subsequent update/upgrade took a while:).

Thanks for the quick reply though, not sure if my information helps at
all. My only real concern was that the problem was with the Ubuntu remix
on the Linux Format mag.

Your log files disagree with you. They clearly show you have multiple NTFS partitions on multiple disks.
