Some additional comments that hopefully will help. The error occurred twice (i.e. is repeatable). CD matches md5sum on website (5133..). I had no problems installing Ubuntu 64-bit alternate RC and following the Edgy instruction for installing mythtv. When installing mythbuntu, I selected the advance option. Choose not to install some myth options (mythweather mythflix and a few others). Installed a mythweb password and a mysql root password). Choose to install the fglrx driver, as I need it for HDTV. Install went fine until 95% and then gave error. If you want a detailed spec of my machine, let me know.
