trying to install and having problems stops after picking where i am

The SQUASHFS errors are indicative of a problem from the USB device you are using to install Ubuntu, I'd try recreating it.

The other problem is that the disk you are trying to install is a 'crypto_LUKS' device, something which the Ubuntu installer does not yet support.
