Crash while trying to install Kubuntu in VirtualBox vm.

I was prompted to add partman and syslog to the report, but was unable to add more than one file manually at a time. Here is the other one.

Second attempt at installation had the same result. To rule out my choices, I selected US locale and no automatic login on the second attempt.

One weirdness I noticed: On the first attempt, a 4.3 GB swap partition was created. On the second attempt, no swap partition was created. (In both both cases it was the automatic default partitioning without LVM.)

I may have found the solution. The default disk size for Ubuntu VMs in VirtualBox is 8 GB, which seems to be on the low side. Apparently the Kubuntu installer can't deal with that restriction. (Making half of it an unnecessary swap partition on the first round is clearly a symptom of this problem!) I have now been successful with a 30 GB disk, while everything else was the same.

To the extent that there is a bug, it appears to be that the Kubuntu installer may fail in a non-constructive way on an 8 GB disk.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. If you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running only once:
apport-collect 1477217

and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
