Installer for 14.04 gave error report when ending

Bug Description

Update of 14.04 left me with no cursor.
Re-installed previous version from CD with update on installation checked.
Same outcome - no cursor.
Re-installed previous version from CD without update checked.
After "Installation Complete - Restart Now" advice - an error report came up and led me to this reporting site.
