German "Test Ubuntu" option uses US keyboard

If I boot Alpha 2 of Ubuntu Gnome 14.04, select "Deutsch" (German) as a language and choose "Test Ubuntu", the system uses a US keyboard layout, not a German keyboard layout.

/var/log/syslog is attached, /var/log/partman is non-existent.

There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. If you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running only once:

and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

I was somewhat shocked that this is still not fixed. What kind of user experience is that!?

Imagine an average German user who wants to have a look at Ubuntu/Linux for the first time. From my experience most Germans only know the German QWERTZ layout. Does Max Mustermann really have to install a different keyboard layout himself?
