Installl crashes while "Running grub-install dummy"

Bug Description

When trying to install kubuntu 13.04 from daily build dated 2013-03-03, the installer crashes while "Running grub-install dummy". The installer exits to a terminal window, and everything freezes. I am installing to removable media (SDHC-card).

It is not possible to boot from the disk created by the installer.

The same thing happens when installing kubuntu 12.10.

I expected the installer to finish, and create a disk from which it is possible to boot.

I have attached a tarball of /var/log from the disk created by the installer.

Is this supposed to work at all?

This release of Ubuntu is no longer receiving maintenance updates. If this is still an issue on a maintained version of Ubuntu please let us know.
