I have set out how I made this work (not well) in Answer# 216356
There is no way to divide up partitions within an encrypted partition, as far as I have established. Confirmed today in 13.04. It would be good to fix this, because at the moment the manual partitioner has a whole lot of ways that this can fail if you are trying to do this.
