Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

Trying to install on /dev/sda3:

 - right clicking /dev/sda3 for editing
 - a partition size of 1000000 bytes is shown (instead of 8GB)
 - trying to increase the size, immediately jumps to 3GB (the size of the used bits)

This seems to be pretty nasty to me, as it can lead to unexpected formatting or modifications to the partition table if you aren't careful

Could somebody affected by this please start the installer with 'ubiquity --debug' from a terminal window, and when the problem occurs make sure to quit the installer (to ensure that all log messages are flushed) and attach /var/log/installer/debug, /var/log/syslog, and /var/log/partman to this bug?

Something is definitely crazily wrong, but I can't see what it is so far. The debug output ought to help.

Changed in ubiquity:
assignee: nobody → kamion
status: Unconfirmed → Needs Info
importance: Undecided → High

I just tried out the Xubuntu Feisty amd64 desktop CD and it was still weird. This time, the default size was taken from the *previous* used size (0 the first time). Hope you don't mind the packed attachment.

OK, I'm pretty sure that this is a duplicate of the parts of bug 95619 that I fixed in ubiquity 1.5.4.
