Installing Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on a net-book Asus Eee PC 1001PX from a USB pen-drive, the setup never ends its work. After have chosen the option to maintain Windows7 toghether with Ubuntu, setup reboots the net-book without any modification at the computer. The setup completely fails.
The reason is the net-book is shipped with already 4 primary partitions.
sda1 NTFS partition is for Windows7 (disk C:)
sda2 FAT32 hidden partition is for recovery
sda3 NTFS partition is for user data (disk D:)
sda4 tiny partition (unrecognized by GParted) is for Boot Booster. Boot Booster is an utility of BIOS that uses the hidden partition for boot the computer much faster.
The workaround is dropping one of the four partition and run the Ubuntu's setup again.
But currently Ubuntu setup doesn't supply any help to solve the problem. Even worse, setup "hides" the problem. When it finds there are already 4 primary partitions, it only restarts the computer. If you don't take a look at the partitions table (and many Ubuntu beginners will not), you will not have an idea of what is the matter of the setup failure.
The setup should say “Hey, you already got 4 partitions: you need to drop one of them in order to install Ubuntu on your PC.”
