Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

I've been trying to load Xubuntu 6.10 onto my PC hard drive and its almost successful, except for at the very end I get a 'grub-install' failure. I've also attached the syslog and partman files to this report.

Here's the info generated by Xubuntu on the installation crash:

We're sorry; the installer crashed. Please file a new bug report at https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+filebug (do not attach your details to any existing bug) and a developer will attend to the problem as soon as possible. To help the developers understand what went wrong, include the following detail in your bug report, and attach the files /var/log/syslog and /var/log/partman:

Thanks for your report. "(hda)" is not a legal GRUB device name; try "/dev/hda" instead. The lack of validation here is also bug 90575.
