I was given this error as well and i found out the ubi-partman doesn't like pre-configured partitions or unpartitioned disk space: so fireup GParted, delete every partition until you have one single "unpartitioned space" entry, create one ext4 primary partition with the size of your disk and apply the changes. This way ubi-partman will work without errors and you can complete the installation.

The alternate CD works as expected, probably since ubiquity is not
involved.
So if you really need to install natty, but don't want to wipe your
partitions, use the alternate iso from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily/current/

I used an external hard drive with no partitions then created a swap and ext4. It works. Then I used gparted to copy from external to my internal drive.

Likely the same as reported above by mote - can't tell because it's a private bug.
So reported here though could be a dupe of mote's

Ok,

I can't send those logs because the VM does not answer at all. Like a
blue screen of the death in windows... ^_^

To reproduce the problem, you have to load the live-session, then push
"Try Ubuntu" and execute the installer. Automatically, ubi-partman error
141 appears.

One question, completely unrelated, if I execute in a terminal
"apport-recollect", do I automatically send /var/log/syslog and
/var/log/installer to launchpad?

I am still encountering this bug as of the April 10th daily-live build. when you click install ubuntu from within the live session and then click the forward button make sure you've got three green checks and then forward again. at this point ubi-partman crashes with exit code 141. This has been a problem since at least Tuesday's daily as it is the earliest I've tried.

I have 3 partitions preinstalled with Windows7 and made one partition available for ubuntu, so I have 4 partitions in total. I don't want to delete the 4th (linux) partition before I know I can install ubuntu..

David, so you had 4 primary partitions before starting the installer? See Bug #757720 , if you don't have any files on the linux partition just delete it or change to extended and ubiquity shouldn't crash

I had the same error. I was trying to install Ubuntu 11.10 and 12.4 from USB, but partman (and some other configuration tools) crashed. But then I created a new usb-key with 150 mb instead of 50 mb of persistence space using Lili Usb Creator on Windows. Ubuntu 12.4 is now installing without error:)

This bug is reported since 2010, it still exists. I tried to install 12.04 with Xubuntu and Kubuntu. The partitions are not correctly recognized and weird partition names get displayed. You can not get past the partitioner, if you try to do so, your existing partitions will be destroyed and you end up with an unusable installation.

Reciving this whilst attempting to install Kubuntu 12.10 x64 from live usb.

Have not attempted to install via CD yet - obviously if that dosn't work I will be compleatly unable to install.

Possibly related, I notice the live USB is signifcantly slower than 12.04.
