Can you explain what is being asked for here to someone unfamiliar with this booting method?

I'm assuming there is a uboot file stored somewhere on the lost that gets copied over USB to boot the panda somehow?

Where does that file currently get stored? You want to be able to store multiple copies of such a file for different target arches?

Multiarch is a mechanism for installing multiple architectures of libraries, not binaries in general. It could potentially be used to install multiple arches of uboot-for-usb-booting if it is OK to store them in /usr/lib/<arch>/

Ah, I see this is a data package which is actually arch all, so just needs to be marked M-A: foreign.
That makes sense.

u-boot-linaro-omap4-panda-splusb just provides:

/usr/lib/u-boot/omap4_panda_splusb
/usr/lib/u-boot/omap4_panda_splusb/u-boot.bin
/usr/lib/u-boot/omap4_panda_splusb/MLO
/usr/lib/u-boot/omap4_panda_splusb/u-boot-spl.bin
/usr/lib/u-boot/omap4_panda_splusb/u-boot.img

These are supplied to the Panda over USB for booting purposes. So regardless of the architecture of the host, it only makes sense for these files to be ARM binaries. u-boot-linaro-omap4-panda-splusb is built for armhf and armel only as these are the only architectures with a native ARM compiler.

Yes - this seems to work for me, and debdiff attached in #1.

---------------
u-boot-linaro (2012.02.2-ubuntu2) precise; urgency=low

  * Mark u-boot-linaro-omap4-panda-splusb for Multi-Arch: foreign, so that
this can be installed on non-arm hosts for USB-booting ARM boards.
