Bug Description
It doesn't look like the tzdata is up-to-date despite being the most up-to-date Ubuntu package.
Debian 6 contains data for 2011
debian6$ zdump -v /usr/share/
/usr/share/
/usr/share/
/usr/share/
/usr/share/
No data for for 2011
ubuntu10.04$ zdump -v /usr/share/
But contains data for 2010:
ubuntu10.04$ zdump -v /usr/share/
/usr/share/
/usr/share/
/usr/share/
/usr/share/
/usr/share/
/usr/share/
/usr/share/
/usr/share/
The one that works:
debian6$ dpkg -s tzdata
Package: tzdata
Status: install ok installed
Priority: required
Section: libs
Installed-Size: 6308
Maintainer: GNU Libc Maintainers <email address hidden>
Architecture: all
Version: 2011d-0squeeze1
Doesn't work:
ubuntu10.04$ dpkg -s tzdata
Package: tzdata
Status: install ok installed
Priority: required
Section: libs
Installed-Size: 6244
Maintainer: Ubuntu Developers <email address hidden>
Architecture: all
Version: 2011j-0ubuntu0.
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.
I compared the upstream release 2011d to 2011j and found the relevant change: https:/ /github. com/eggert/ tz/commit/ 7bf85c80a63f31e 97134d75313736b 792bcd94c6
According to that commit Egypt abandoned DST in 2011. So not having any offset change (caused by DST) for 2011 is correct. Let me know in case this DST change did not happen in 2011.
