Bug Description

Binary package hint: tzdata

At install I selected America/Indiana/Indianapolis as my timezone. After the most recent update to tzdata (2011e-1) my timezone was changed to America/Adak. Here are the relevant lines from the terminal during install:

Setting up tzdata (2011e-1) ...

Current default time zone: 'America/Adak'

Local time is now: Mon Apr 4 13:46:31 HADT 2011.

Universal Time is now: Mon Apr 4 22:46:31 UTC 2011.

Run 'dpkg-reconfigure tzdata' if you wish to change it.

The UTC time listed was correct however the local time was not. Manually changing my timezone back to America/Indiana/Indianapolis using 'dpkg-reconfigure tzdata' as recommended fixed the problem.

You should probably try using:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure tzdata

Is this still happening or is it solved?

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

On package upgrade, tzdata reads the /etc/localtime symlink. If /etc/localtime pointed to /usr/share/zoneinfo/America/Indiana/Indianapolis before the package upgrade, it is a tzdata bug. Otherwise the problem lies somewhere else. Since this bug is very old, I am closing it as invalid (due to a lack of more information). If you have seen such behavior recently, please reopen this bug or open a new bug report.

Changed in tzdata (Ubuntu):
status: New → Invalid
