Bug Description

Binary package hint: tsclient

Ubuntu Hardy 8.04.1 AMD64
Linux set 2.6.24-23-generic #1 SMP Mon Jan 26 01:04:16 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux

tsclient 0.150-1ubuntu1

I use a laptop PC with an Italian keyboard to connect to a remote Windows box using tsclient. On the remote box, I've chosen to use Italian keyboard layout.

The keyboard works for most of the keys but curly braces do not.

To obtain curly braces on an Italian keyboard you must enter these combos:

shift + alt gr + è
shift + alt gr + +

respectively.

Note that square brackets work:

alt gr + è
alt gr + +

Note also that using mstsc under Vista, the braces work, so it does not seem to be an issue of keyboard "shading" for long keys combos.

Terminal Server Client for GNOME
  a frontend for rdesktop
  tsclient version 0.150

The remote machine is WinXP SP3.

I have exactly the same problem.

I would like to add that trying to enter the ascii code via ALT+123 and ALT+125 (keypad) doesn't work.

Same problem in my ubuntu 10.4. Solved hacking on '/usr/share/rdesktop/keymaps/it'.

I've changed this two lines:

    braceleft 0x08 altgr
    braceright 0x0b altgr

with the two below:

    braceleft 0x1a shift altgr
    braceright 0x1b shift altgr

Now curly braces on my keyboard are working.

Thank you for reporting this bug. tsclient has been removed from the Ubuntu 11.10 archives. The software has not had a new release in years and was no longer being maintained. Unfortunately that means this bug won't be fixed.

Changed in tsclient (Ubuntu):
