"Show Transmission" in indicator icon doesn't work properly when window is maximized

Binary package hint: transmission

When I try to bring up the transmission window using "Show Transmission" in the indicator icon and there is a window maximized the transmission window is shown but stays behind the maximized window. To reproduce this:

1. Start Transmission and hide the window
2. Open another applications (e.g., Firefox) and maximize it
3. Go to the indicator panel and press "Show Transmission"

The transmission window is now open again and can be gotten to with alt-tab or the window list but it is behind the maximized window.

I could not confirm this bug on my lucid i386 install. I do not seem to be affected by this bug. I am however using the latest (2.0.4) version of transmission from the official PPA, so that could be why, which version of transmission are you producing this bug with?

I was just trying to reproduce it again and it didn't happen every time. Here's a more reliable and detailed way to reproduce it:

1. Run transmission
2. Close it with the X in the corner (making it hide with "Show Transmission" doesn't trigger the bug)
3. Run Firefox and Maximize it
4. Press "Show Transmission"

I'm also running a non-composited desktop with plain metacity.

I can't reproduce this issue w/ Transmission 2.04 under Metacity 2.30 with no compositing.

Aha. I think the reason I'm not able to reproduce this in 2.04 is r10490, which was done for upstream ticket https://trac.transmissionbt.com/ticket/3146 .

This seems to be fixed by upstream #3146, which is included in Transmission 2.0x. So I'm closing this ticket because the bug has been fixed in the latest development version of Ubuntu - Maverick Meerkat. It won't be fixed in previous versions of Ubuntu because the package doesn't fit the requirements for backporting. See https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuBackports for more information.

I can still reproduce this bug in maverick with transmission 2.04. The same steps still reproduce the bug.

Yeah, I can reproduce that behavior in Quantal. I see that bug 741582 is this same issue. I'm going to dupe them. I guess I'll dupe this one to that, because there's been more activity there, and it's been accepted as a paper-cuts bug. Thanks.

Hm, I should say that bug is "essentially" this same issue. I think the 'maximized' part discussed here should be covered if/when that bug is fixed. If I'm wrong, I'll try to come back to un-dupe it. Thanks.
