I *strongly* suggest you hold off until 1.83.

Also I'm scratching my head on how to improve the release process. We had 5 betas and thousands of beta testers, and the development team was dogfooding the app ourselves. I would've liked a stable perfect 1.80 but I am not sure how we could improve the number of testers and the amount of feedback they provided. :/

Anyway, most of the biggies have been resolved in the nightlies, and I hope to have 1.83 out soon. Even after I think the remaining known issues are fixed I'd like to let the code settle in the nightlies for at least a short time before 1.83.

This bug was fixed in the package transmission - 1.83-0ubuntu1

---------------
transmission (1.83-0ubuntu1) lucid; urgency=low

  [ Krzysztof Klimonda ]
  * New upstream release (LP: #512391)
  * Fixes bugs:
    - transmission consistently reports having downloading 115-130% of the
      required data with no corresponding corrupt download data numbers
      (LP: #499964)
  * debian/patches/99_autoreconf.patch:
    - Refreshed for the new changes

  [ Chris Coulson ]
  * debian/patches/01_lpi.patch:
    - Updated to use a pkg-config check at configure time, and not hard
      code the library name in transmission_LDADD
  * debian/patches/dont_build_libevent.patch:
    - Updated to patch configure.ac rather than configure. This stops
      it from breaking with an autoconf run (LP: #510776)
