Bug Description
Binary package hint: transmission
At the bottom of the Bittorrent client, a number of status bar elements are shown: A scary cog wheel with no tool-tip, a Turtle to make implement bandwidth limited, the text "N torrent[s]", Ratio, Download speed, and Upload speed.
At the moment, the Bittorrent client will only display the "Upload speed" and "Download speed" in traffic has occured in that direction in the last ~1 speed. The constant hiding, and unhiding of the two elements causes the width width of the status bar to constantly adjust. The "Ratio: N.NN" text therefore jumps left, right, left, right, ... and the "N Torrents" which is centred in the remaining status bar space also jumps left, right, left, right (but half as much, because of the centreing).
Ideally _all_ the elements should be shown (and if using variable width fonts, with some padding) _all_ of the time. This should provide any jumping in the interface layout.
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This particular bug has already been reported and is a duplicate of bug 489679, so it is being marked as such. Please look at the other bug report to see if there is any missing information that you can provide, or to see if there is a workaround for the bug. In addition, the sub-issue of the lack of tooltips in the statusbar is fixed for 1.80 and tracked upstream at http:// trac.transmissi onbt.com/ ticket/ 2708
