keep torrents in the "downloading" category for some secs

Bug Description

Binary package hint: transmission

I use Transmission to share a lot of stuff, so I have transmission set to show only the downloading torrents.

With the old notification system, when a torrent was completed I got a notification with a button to open the destination folder. Now that button is gone, so I have to bring the main UI up. But then, the file is not in the downloading group and I have to go look for it in the seeding group, which as I said is quite crowded.

I would like transmission to keep downloaded files in the downloading groups for some seconds when they're done, to give the user the chance to reach them. It's the same pidgin does for contacts that go offline: it keeps them onscreen for some seconds, then removes it.

In short: no.

The polite answer is that Ubuntu already has a roadmap for handling this functionality, so adding a workaround in the Transmission code will be a wasted effort.

In addition, the OP needs to understand that the buttons still exist on platforms that support them. I think it's a very narrow viewpoint to suggest that Transmission change its behavior on BSD, Fedora, SuSE, Mandriva, Gentoo, etc. just because Ubuntu chose to remove this feature.

The downstream ticket is valid, because it affects "transmission (Ubuntu)". This ticket is invalid because this is wholly an Ubuntu issue, by Ubuntu's own choice and own doing.

Note: In addition, I'd like to say that the first time I heard that Ubuntu wanted Transmission to add a Firefox-like download manager was when I stumbled across it on NotifyOSD page. Nobody from Ubuntu has even *spoken* to me about it, much less filed an enhancement request or provided working code.

It's been over a year and nobody has seconded this request. Since upstream is against the idea, and downstream is uninterested, I'm going to close as "Won't Fix".
