Hi,

Thanks for reporting this. However it is a feature request not a bug.

Hi Ciaran.
According to Mark (http://www.markshuttleworth.com/archives/265), we should file bugs (even if wish bugs)

"There are at least 35 apps that need tweaking, and there may well be others! If you find an app that isn’t using notifications elegantly, please add it to the notification design guidelines page, and if you file a bug on the package, please tag it “notifications” so we can track these issues in a single consistent way."

Hi,

Yes it's fine that it has been reported. I merely posted that in the hope that someone else could change the importance to "wishlist".

Thanks for pointing out the need for change.

This related to #334252, which contains a patch to libtransmission's existing code that prevents the popups. That code is slated for 1.51, which will be out soon.

I'm not marking this as a duplicate, though, since it also brings up the point of using libindicate. I don't see much documentation for it and am not running the betas, but if someone wants to include a patch that tests for libindicate's pkg-config in configure.ac, and then uses that instead of libnotify iff libindicate is present, I'd use that patch upstream.

Transmission probably wouldn't be appropriate for using libindicate. The message indicator applet is designed for displaying messages, defined as human to human interactive.

How does one do that? Is there existing code in another project that already does something like this?
