Bug Description

Binary package hint: transmageddon

I wanted to transcode a video file (.mov; dv-video codec) to a webm video but transmageddon does nothing. I could choose the input video and the output-format, clicked on transcode and since I've done this nothing happened.
After a while I've chosen to cancel. Then the transcode-button stayed grey and I wasn't able to restart the transcoding-process.

I just recorded a small video with Desktop Recorder on the ogv format which I would like to transcode to webm.
I have the exact same symptoms.

I choose the input file, select the Output format, click on transcode. The UI deactivates all controls, the progress bar does not fill and no CPU usage is reported.

Changed in transmageddon (Ubuntu):

Playing around the UI seems to help:

- Choose an input file
- Choose a preset such as: Generic Linux Computer.
=> Output format and codec choices remain deactivated
- Click Transcode
- Click Cancel
=> Output format and codec choices are activated!
- Chose output format WebM
- Click Transcode
=> Transcoding commences!
- Delete superfluous file potentially created by canceled transcoding attempt if necessary.

So this seems to be some kind of initialization issue.

summary: - Transmageddon does nothing
+ Transmageddon does not correctly initialize

ok, as I can't seem to find where to add new bug, I'll drop my comment here as it looks most relevant.

confirm "transcode don't start" bug with the following conditions:

Canon DSLR' encoded video (.MOV) captured at 640x480 - transcoded to .MP4 perfectly
while video from the same camera captured at 1280x720 (16:9 resolution) - transcoding does not start (BUG)

hope that helps.
