I can confirm this bug. In my case clicking on "Close" after enabling the indexing resulted in the crash.

This is on a fully updated jaunty machine as of Sat 4 Apr 03:41 UTC 2009

Every once and then, tracker-applet says, the index is corrupted and has to be re-indexed again. There is no other option as to let it re-index the system, otherwise, the message appears every few seconds. Only solution (so far) is to kill trackerd and tracker-applet and to prevent it to be started again.
