tracker-search-tool tray icon

Bug Description

Binary package hint: tracker

It could be useful to have a tray icon for tracker-search-tool (like beagle search).
I really don't like deskbar (I'm not able to add tags and I can't see item infos).
I've also tried to add an icon to gnome-panel, but clicking on it more than one time opens several instances of search-tool.
With a tray icon I could open and minimize search-tool.

Is there any chance to have an option in the Tracker preferences dialog, to let the user show when the tray icon should or shouldn't be shown?

It's cool that you can have it to easily see when stuff is being indexed, and perform searches. But some folks might want to see it only while is indexing -or never at all- especially since tray space is precious and the HIG specify that it should be used ONLY to notify of events, and that more than three or four items make it go useless fast.

An option just like the one the power manager gives would be fine.

David, you're right. I've reported it as bug 176981, requesting an option in tracker-preferences (which can be accessed double-clicking tracker-applet, same as you do with gnome-power-manager) to disable it. Feel free to comment on it.

Cheers
