Bug Description

Binary package hint: tracker

tracker might cause unnecessary disk activity. It is important for laptop users to reduce unnecessary disk-activity because the harddrive head might be parked or the drive might be spun down.

The index delay should be set to a higher value for laptop users. For example 600 seconds instead of 45 seconds.

This might be one of the contributors to the famous Load_Cycle_Count bug :

After watching my Load_Cycle_Count climb at a very large rate, I happened to remove Tracker Search Tool. That rate has dropped significantly. I don't have actually numbers to share, but it has made a large difference.
(I have a laptop, but it is not set to laptop mode)

acpi-support shows Fix Released on this, as does every other bug, therefore on that basis, marking this Fix Released too.

Changed in tracker (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → Wishlist
status: New → Fix Released
