Bug Description

Installation via aptitude -f gives the following output when attempting to install GIMP

The following packages are BROKEN:
  libpoppler1-glib
The following NEW packages will be automatically installed:
  gimp-gnomevfs gimp-print gimp-svg
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  gimp gimp-gnomevfs gimp-print gimp-svg
0 packages upgraded, 5 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 4971kB of archives. After unpacking 12.1MB will be used.
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  libpoppler1-glib: Depends: libpoppler1 (= 0.5.4-0ubuntu8) but 0.5.4-4ubuntu1 is installed.
Resolving dependencies...
Unable to resolve dependencies! Giving up...

Should be a straightforward one. Or should it be moved to GIMP?

evince also has this problem, so it might be a poppler thing.

Or maybe both gimp and evince need a recompile.

Yes. I've just tried and installation of evince with the same unmet dependencies output

Here it is.....

I think the real problem is that libpoppler1-glib depends on an outdated version of libpoppler1 and the fixing might be done there.

The problem is that libpoppler1-glib has been renamed in libpoppler-glib1 and that the new package doesn't provide the old one, Recompile every packages depending on libpoppler1-glib should fix the problem

no need to open bug about non installable sotware in unstable distributions, there is an autogenerated list, a new evince has already been uploaded some days ago it didn't build yet because of an another bug though

Martin, Just a bit of feedback on the fix. GIMP install succeeds here now.
