Bug Description

Binary package hint: totem

This is on current feisty with 2.17.5-0ubuntu5 . I go to a directory, select a bunch of .mp3s to play. They play correctly. After track 1 finishes, track 2 begins etc. . Randomly (i.e. not after a certain number of tracks) totem will pause and will not play the next track. Running totem from the commandline gives:

pandis@pandis-laptop:~/music/kokos/mora sti fotia$ totem --debug *
** Message: Couldn't initialize lirc.

(totem:9453): GStreamer-CRITICAL **:
Trying to dispose object "video-sink", but it still has a parent "vbin".
You need to let the parent manage the object instead of unreffing the object directly.

<Lots of identical gstreamer warnings>

The problem does not seem to depend on the specific mp3s. I have not tried other formats. Totem does not crash and selecting the next track and hitting play always succeeds. Still though, it's a (admittedly minor) inconvenience.

I just noticed that I was at the bottom of the playlist when that happened, but I'm quite sure that it hand't played the last song. Now clicking a track won't start it, I have to restart totem and I also got lots of

(totem:9453): GStreamer-WARNING **: pad id3demux13:sink sending navigation event in wrong direction

warnings. I'll investigate this further.

I have not seen this with rhythmbox. It happens with totem consistently whenever playing a ~10 track directory. It stops playing at a random track and requires the user to restart nautilus to continue playing (the progress bar is at the bottom, the time elapsed in the track is "00:00" and play is clicked, but will not play (even if I click pause and play again, even if I choose another track).

Using the "next" track on my feisty desktop I can trigger those warning, the "next track" action works fine though, I've opened a bug upstream about that: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=403211

Could you try with totem 2.17.91? the warning problem seems to be fixed with that version
