Bug Description

Binary package hint: totem-mozilla

Whenever a video stream has a url with extra information appended to it the error "Can't parse that no files" appears in a dialog. For instance

http://cgi.omroep.nl/cgi-bin/streams?/tv/nps/nova/bb.20061108-a.asf?start=0:0:0.1&end=0:32:55.0;embed=1

produces the error and

http://cgi.omroep.nl/cgi-bin/streams?/tv/nps/nova/bb.20061108-a.asf

does not.

This happens using Kubuntu 6.10, Firefox 2.0, Totem-xine, Totem-mozilla, a reinstall of the packages does not solve the issue. A reinstall of Kubuntu has not been tried, the installed system is a upgrade from Kubuntu Dapper.

Using Konsole the error

url 'file:///home/username/.mozilla/firefox/znufv0em.default/Cache/7A1BFD5Fd01' unhandled
** Message: NO PLAYLIST

appears.

I can confirm this. Firstly, I thought that this is caused by totem-xine, but after reinstalling totem-gstreamer, the issue still appears.

Thank you for your bug. That works fine for me with totem-gstreamer on feisty. Might have been fixed by the new totem version, I'll try later on edgy

If noticed one error in my initial bug report. The video needs to be embedded in a web page for the error to appear. A url with extra information does work when pasted directly into the address bar.

A example page would be http://www.novatv.nl/ , I could not find a english language page for this. The video links are marked with a small camera icon, any of them produces the error.

Yeah, it works fine in Feisty with both, totem-xine and totem-gstreamer.

Can we backport the fix to Edgy?

Other use case is

Btw, I can reproduce this on an Edgy install.

I got the Feisty Totem source, compiled it in an Edgy pbuilder and installed it on an Edgy installation - videos work fine with totem-mozilla in Mozilla now.

We should probably backport this.

We will not backport GNOME 2.17 to edgy, backporting a patch is fine
though if somebody figures what change fix that bug

I'm not sure how to report this but the issue has been resolved since Feisty.

Ubuntu Edgy Eft is no longer supported, so a SRU will not be issued for this release. Marking Edgy as Won't Fix.
