Bug Description
Binary package hint: totem
Ubuntu 10.10 maverick
totem: Installed: 2.31.90-0ubuntu1
On a fully updated vanilla install of maverick (and a fresh user account) the screensaver activates while playing a video with totem. I tried VLC and it doesn't happen there, so I assume the bug is either with totem or with gstreamer.
What happens: After the set activation time (for the screensaver) the screen starts fading to black. When it is fully faded to black the screensaver doesn't activate but you see the video again until the next screensaver-
I tried getting some info by running totem from a terminal with "LANG=POSIX totem file.avi". I used LANG=POSIX to get english output to post here. I didn't get any output on the terminal but something else strange happended. The screensaver didn't activate. I ran totem again without LANG=POSIX and surely the screensaver activated. Setting LANG to en_US.utf8 also got the screensaver activated. Only POSIX prevents activating the screensaver. I don't know what this information means, but I thought it might help.
The problem was fixed in 2.32.0.
