Bug Description

(Note: I really don't know why Totem insisted on filing this bug against gstreamer, but anyhow...)

Since a few days, support to playback YouTube videos in Totem is broken again. The thumbnails appear as normal in the sidebar, but clicking on any of them returns a "you might not have sufficient permissions to access this content" warning.

Trying to run Totem from command line on a terminal, we notice the following debug message:

** Message: Error: "http://www.youtube.com/get_video?video_id=Ti-848bKhd0&t=vjVQa1PpcFM77_dKTh5EfXDVVGOpbVgZSPi-pkHJDqQ%3D&fmt=18": Not Found
gstsouphttpsrc.c(1096): gst_soup_http_src_parse_status (): /GstPlayBin2:play/GstURIDecodeBin:uridecodebin0/GstSoupHTTPSrc:source:
404 Not Found

Should I assume that Totem simply hasn't kept up with YouTube's ever-changing URL format?

I saw this in totem (2.31.6-0ubuntu1) maverick; urgency=low

  * New upstream version:
    Plugins:
    - Update for YouTube website changes

So I upgraded my Maverick alpha 3 to the latest packages and tried again.

I can now search and then playback YouTube videos again in Totem..

This is actually caused by outdated dependencies for totem-plugins. It would need to be fixed in Lucid as well.

affects: gstreamer0.10 (Ubuntu) → totem (Ubuntu)
